The Conseil Départemental de Dordogne officially launches its collaboration with BeesForLife as part of APIDOR

With the launch of the BeesForLife platform, the department aims to support the beekeeping sector in the Dordogne, the first victim of the Asian hornet.

The press has picked up on the department's initiative to protect bees and pollinators.

BeesForLife is now beginning to respond to requests from beekeepers wishing to contribute to this project under the agreement signed by APIDOR, the economic interest grouping of beekeeping associations, and the health protection group.

Although the department's beekeeping industry is heavily involved, it is not the only one to benefit from the department's action.

The platform makes it possible to report nests for destruction, and also to monitor the traps that can be installed by professionals and private individuals. This action contributes to the national plan to combat Asian hornets. The ITSAP (Institut de l'Abeille) has hypothesised that trapping campaigns, following precise protocols, should reduce the pressure of hornets on pollinators. This has led BeesForLife to develop trapping monitoring tools to facilitate this control plan approach.
